Conjuring and Invocation: Control when Crossing Boundaries

In both the case of conjuring and of invocation—thus whether lower or higher realms are called upon—it is an invitation, a call towards certain beings. But such a call can force beings, if for instance the one invoking is believed to exercise power. The question is, in how far is one really in control when calling in—and through the boundaries separating the physical and spiritual realms—certain entities..?

In esoteric and occult traditions, the question of control when crossing these boundaries is the central warning of almost every mystery school. The short answer from most esoteric perspectives—including anthroposophy and other researchers—is that complete control is largely an illusion, especially when dealing with the nether-worlds.

Here is how control breaks down when the boundary is pierce for both types of entities:

1. Calling Lower Entities (Conjuring)

When an individual uses a forced call to command a lower entity, they rely on rigid rituals, symbols, or personal willpower to maintain a boundary. However, esoteric philosophy states:

• The illusion of obedience: Lower entities (often sub-material or elemental) frequently pretend to be controlled. They may grant a short-term request to gain a foothold in the practitioner's energy field or subconscious.
• The cost of entry: To cross the boundary into our physical or psychological space, these entities require energy. If it is a forced call, they often take that energy through energetic drain, obsession, or psychological destabilization.

2. Calling Higher Entities (Invocation)

With true invocation, the dynamic of "control" changes entirely because it is replaced by surrender and alignment:

• Respecting free will: Higher-dimensional or spiritual beings respect human free will and cosmic boundaries. They cannot be "forced" or commanded.
• The prerequisite of purity: You do not control a higher being; you elevate your own consciousness to match their elevation. If a person tries to invoke a higher being while driven by ego, greed, or a desire for control, the higher boundary remains shut—or, worse, a lower entity masks itself as a higher being to answer the call.

The Boundary Problem: "As Above, So Below"

When you open a doorway through the boundary, it works like a vacuum. You are in control of the act of opening the door, but you are rarely in control of the current that flows through it.
In esoteric training, the only true protection or "control" a person has is the absolute clarity of their own sovereignty, ego-consciousness, and moral purity. Without that inner strength, crossing the boundaries leaves the practitioner highly vulnerable to being influenced by the very entities they thought they were commanding.
