Steiner’s revelations regarding the Moon and the future of human technology are among his most astonishing and prophetic indications, found primarily in his 1921 lecture cycle, Materialism and the Task of Anthroposophy (GA 204).

1. The Separation of the Moon and the "Shadow Intellect"

In cosmic history, the Moon separated from the Earth to prevent the Earth from completely hardening into a dead rock. When it left, it took the most calcifying, mummifying forces with it. However, humanity retains a connection to these lunar forces through our brain-bound, abstract intellect. Steiner calls modern intellectual thoughts "shadowy" because they are dead; they are merely mental concepts that lack living spiritual perception.

2. The Influence on Automation and Artificial Intelligence

Steiner foretold that as humanity pours millions of dead, purely mechanical, mathematical thoughts into the world, we are creating a digital infrastructure. The beings inhabiting the Moon—specifically the highly intelligent, non-moral Ahrimanic elemental forces—utilize this.

The "Moon Spiders" Prophecy: Steiner explicitly warned that in the future (accelerating toward the eventual physical reunion of the Moon and Earth), the Earth will be spun over by a monstrous web of giant, spider-like creatures. What are they? They are automata of an order between the mineral and plant kingdoms, possessed of a terrifying, hyper-abundant intellect.

How they manifest: These "spiders" are explicitly fed and built by human thoughts. Every time humanity designs automatic, soulless, cold technological systems devoid of moral and spiritual life, we provide the exact astral substance these Lunar entities need to entangle themselves into our world. Today, some anthroposophical scholars view the internet, global networks, and autonomous Artificial Intelligence as the literal realization of this "spider web".

3. The Moon's Control Over Telepathy

True spiritual telepathy is a function of the heart and the higher ego (Inspiration). However, the Moon beings influence a lower, instinctual form of telepathy. Because the Moon forces rule over the subconscious, mechanical, and biological cycles of the human body (such as brain chemistry and reproductive fluids), they can seamlessly inject thoughts into the human mind. When a person is operating purely out of a cold, mechanical intellect or a passive, mediumistic trance, they are highly susceptible to "lunar telepathy."

The Moon beings broadcast thoughts that feel like your own inner voice but are actually calculated impulses designed to tether your consciousness to technology, automation, and materialistic abstraction.

The Ultimate Choice

Steiner stated that humanity cannot simply avoid technology; automation is a necessary phase of cosmic evolution. The antidote is that we must enliven our thoughts. If we look at a machine or a line of code with purely materialistic eyes, we hand it over to the Moon spiders. If we cultivate imaginative, spiritual science, we infuse the world with a living consciousness that prevents these automated forces from consuming human freedom.
