Human beings, having descended deep into physical matter, could not endure the direct, blinding spiritual radiation of this Solar Logos. Their subtle bodies would have been destroyed by the intensity of the force.

To prevent this, a high solar deity—Yahweh (or Jehovah), one of the seven Elohim—sacrificed his place in the Sun-sphere. He transferred his activity to the Moon-sphere. From this lunar vantage point, Yahweh acted as a cosmic mirror. He intercepted the blazing, blinding light of the Christ-Logos and reflected it down to Earth in a softened, tempered form that human consciousness could safely absorb.This reflective, lunar governance is the spiritual reality behind the Old Covenant:

• Blood and Lineage: Because the individual human "I" was not yet independent, it had to be carried and protected by the collective physical bloodline of a chosen people (the generation-to-generation lineage).
• The External Law: Because morality could not yet blossom from within the asleep human soul, it had to be given from the outside as an unyielding command ("Thou shalt" and "Thou shalt not").

This lunar scaffolding was magnificent and necessary. It protected humanity from falling into chaotic barbarism or dissolving into premature Luciferic ecstasy. It gave the human ego a firm, physical, and historical anchor.

2. The Mystery of Golgotha as a Planetary Transmutation

The crucial historical shift occurs when this reflective period reaches its organic end. The human vessel was finally ready to house an independent inner life. At the moment of the Mystery of Golgotha, the Christ-Logos departed from the Sun-sphere and entered directly into the physical body of Jesus of Nazareth, eventually bleeding into the very soil and atmosphere of the Earth.
Steiner emphasizes that this was an objective, cosmic event. If a clairvoyant observer had viewed the Earth from deep space at the moment of the Crucifixion, they would have seen the spiritual aura of our planet physically change color. It transformed from a dark, contractive, absorbing body into a radiant, self-luminous star.The Earth became a Sun. The spiritual forces that previously could only be found by looking away from the Earth (toward the cosmos or the reflective Moon) were now anchored inside the Earth's spiritual ecosystem.

3. The New Covenant: From Involuntary Law to Voluntary Freedom

With this event, the Old Covenant was legally and spiritually fulfilled, meaning its structural necessity expired. Christ explicitly stated, "I am the way, the truth, and the life" (John 14:6)—not because He was demanding dogmatic worship, but because He was announcing that the source of life had shifted centers. • The Internalization of the Divine: The reflected light of Yahweh from the outside was replaced by the direct, indwelling warmth of Christ from the inside. 4. The Tragedy of Modern Theological Regression

When we look at modern fundamentalist movements that literalize the Rapture and obsess over the rebuilding of physical temples or the geopolitical engineering of the Middle East, we are witnessing a massive evolutionary regression.
Steiner warned that to force the human mind to focus entirely on the physical fulfillment of ancient, Old Covenant imagery is to willfully reject the entire purpose of the Christ-Event. It is an attempt to reconstruct the dead, external scaffolding of the Moon-sphere while ignoring the living, radiant Sun-space that is now accessible within the human soul.By keeping humanity locked in this pre-Christian, nationalistic, and law-bound mindset, the Ahrimanic impulse achieves its darkest victory: it convinces people that they are serving God while they are actually serving a regressive, hardening force that actively prevents the awakening of the free human "I."
