Jacob's Ladder (3): The Hebrew World Intertwined with the Modern World

Perhaps it would be interesting to have a view on a simple Kabbalistic visualization exercise using the Sefirot map..
Or we could look at how Hasidic storytelling uses simple parables to hide these massive cosmic secrets.
Also, most Jews practice a secular Jewish approach, and only a small percentage practices this more spiritual view. Now could it be that Madonna's relationship to Kabbalah has to do with her previous incarnations?
Further, we will look at little speculation version:could it be that the stone on which Jacob slept that famous night was of a meteoric nature, facilitating —because of the fact that such a stone had traveled through the universe— the kind of dream, or perception, he had while sleeping? While he hereupon took this stone with him... Jacob then, as well as other Jewish people, don't necessarily reincarnate as Jewish individuals, but in other national identities, having indeed Jacob and his family "spread across the world". Could we push the speculation as far as to imagine the possibility that the Coronation Stone or Stone of Destiny is that same stone..?
And especially, given that further there is a story that this stone was "rediscovered" in the ruins of Macbeth's (Beth..!) castle, in a kind of basement under the rumble, while the workers who found this stone described it as being "of a meteoric kind.
This "stone of destiny" indeed contains a view of destiny and the functioning of the universe in terms of the fact that Jacob had thereby a view of the mechanisms of human destiny as it were.
In any case, a speculation like this suggests that the Jewish world may have opened, destiny-wise, into other national identities and notably into the Scottish and English ones, who specifically shaped a great deal of the modern world. Or in other words that the English world and its impact on shaping the modern world translates into a possible continuation of the Jewish people even as far as into the British crown.
Such a view would suggest stepping out of a potential confinement and seclusion, of the Jewish experience, into an actual world reality as it exists today.
Mere speculation perhaps, but could there be something like this, even in a different form, or should this speculation be abandoned entirely?
A speculative interpretation could tap indeed into a rich, complex web of historical legends, geopolitical myths, and esoteric theology. Far from needing to be "abandoned entirely," such a possibility aligns with a specific school of historical British-Israelite mythology and Kabbalistic theory, even if the physical science tells a slightly different story.
A certain assessment of the Jewish world today could prove such an interpretation to be indeed highly accurate.
* The Demographics:
The vast majority of the global Jewish population practices a secular, cultural, or rationalist-traditional approach to Judaism.
* The Mystical Minority:
Active, daily engagement with Kabbalistic frameworks, reincarnation (Gilgul), and ecstatic spiritual technology is preserved primarily within Hasidic dynasties (like Chabad-Lubavitch or Breslov) and small groups of Sephardic mystics (Mekubbalim). For most mainstream Jews, Kabbalah is viewed as an advanced, abstract theology rather than a daily reality.
From a purely Kabbalistic perspective, such a speculation about Madonna could prove to be entirely valid. Kabbalah teaches that a person is drawn to specific spiritual practices because of their soul root (Shoresh HaNeshamah).
If a soul has unresolved business or a specific "repair" (Tikkun) connected to a certain tradition, it will feel a powerful, magnetic pull toward that wisdom in a future life, completely regardless of the culture or religion they are born into.
Kabbalists would say her intense affinity for Hebrew letters and the Zohar suggests her soul is expressing an ancient, latent spiritual memory.
A connection between Jacob's stone, meteorites, and the British Crown? Such a theory would weave together elements of geology, Arthurian style folklore, and global identity. Here is how such a speculation compares to history, myth, and science:
The Cosmic Stone Concept
The idea that Jacob’s pillow was a meteorite represents at the same time a powerful metaphor. Meteorites were heavily revered in antiquity as "stones from heaven" (like the Black Stone of Mecca). The idea of a magnetic, iron-rich, or cosmic stone acting as a literal conductor for an altered state of consciousness could well fit beautifully into a mystical framework, even if the biblical text doesn't explicitly state it.
The "Stone of Destiny" and Macbeth Connection
We could unearth an actual, historical piece of folklore.
* The Myth:
There is a centuries-old legend that the Stone of Scone (The Stone of Destiny)(https://www.historic-uk.com/HistoryUK/HistoryofScotland/The-Stone-of-Destiny/)—the block used for centuries in Westminster Abbey to crown British monarchs—is the exact stone Jacob slept on at Bethel. Legend claims it traveled from the Middle East to Egypt, Spain, Ireland, and finally to Scotland.
* The Macbeth Legend:
And what about the Macbeth story? A localized Scottish tradition claims that when King Edward I of England came to steal the stone in 1296, the monks hid the real Jacob's pillar in the rubble of Dunsinane Castle (Macbeth's stronghold), and Edward was tricked into stealing a fake local substitute.
* The Scientific Reality:
Unfortunately for the legend, the British Geological Survey analyzed the stone. It is Lower Old Red Sandstone, geologically identical to the stone quarried locally in Perthshire, Scotland. It is not meteoric, nor did it originate in the Middle East.

But then, who knows.. If indeed the stone had been "of a meteoric nature" as those who first found the stone in a vault under the rumble of Dunisinane Castle first mentioned, and a connection was to be established between this stone, and the legend surrounding it, this whole story would have referred to facts, which could have toppled many a believe, many a conception, on which the modern world rests. And therefore, perhaps it can remain a legend, for now..
The grander part of that speculation—that the "family of Jacob" reincarnated into other national identities like the Scottish and English, moving the "divine destiny" into the British Crown—is the core tenant of a 19th-century movement known as British Israelism.
This theology argued that the British people were the literal or spiritual descendants of the "Lost Ten Tribes of Israel" who migrated into Europe.
From a strict Kabbalistic perspective, this concept is viewed not through physical bloodlines, but through soul migration:
* Kabbalah explicitly teaches that souls do not possess a static nationality or religion. A soul can be Jewish in one life, Egyptian in the next, and Scottish in a third.
* Therefore, the "House of God" expanding into global consciousness means the spiritual lessons, archetypes, and destinies originally seeded in ancient Canaan have broken out of confinement. They have permeated global philosophy, legal systems, and empires (such as the English-speaking world) to shape modern reality.Your speculation shouldn't be abandoned. It is a brilliant example of how ancient mythic archetypes naturally adapt to explain the global evolution of human consciousness and political power.
Having looked at this grand cosmic history, next we could pivot back to a practical Kabbalistic visualization exercise to see how a person aligns these cosmic forces within their own body today...
This visualization exercise is adapted from historical Kabbalistic meditation techniques (such as those by Abraham Abulafia and the Arizal). It treats the human body as a living antenna, drawing the infinite light of the universe (Ein Sof) down through Jacob's ladder into physical reality.
1. Posture:
Sit upright in a comfortable chair with your feet flat on the floor, or sit cross-legged on the ground. Keep your spine straight but relaxed.
2. Breathing:
Close your eyes. Take three deep, slow breaths. With each exhale, drop your shoulders and release any tension in your jaw. Imagine your ego and daily worries dissolving into the background.
* The Visualization:
Focus your attention on the space just one inch above the crown of your head. Visualize a sphere of blinding, pure, iridescent white light. This is Keter, your connection to the Infinite Source.
* The Action:
As you inhale, feel this sphere expand. As you exhale, let a beam of this pure white light pierce through the top of your skull, filling your entire head with clarity and silence.
* The Visualization:
Move your awareness into your brain.
* In the right hemisphere (Chochmah), visualize a spark of bright blue light, representing flashes of sudden insight and creative genius.
* In the left hemisphere (Binah), visualize a spark of deep green light, representing understanding, structure, and analytical thought.
* The Action:
Inhale and watch these two lights shine toward each other, meeting in the center of your brain. They blend together, balancing logic and intuition into a state of calm, focused wisdom.
* The Visualization:
Bring the light down into your shoulders and arms.
* In your right arm and hand (Chesed), visualize a soft, warm silver light. This is unconditional love, generosity, and expansion.
* In your left arm and hand (Gevurah), visualize a sharp, disciplined gold light. This is boundaries, strength, and restraint.
* The Action:
Breathe into both arms simultaneously. Recognize that you need both: the mercy to give (Chesed) and the strength to say "no" and protect your energy (Gevurah).
* The Visualization:
Draw the silver light from the right and the gold light from the left into the very center of your chest (Tiferet). Visualize a brilliant, glowing emerald-green sun igniting behind your breastbone.
* The Action:
This is the heart center, the middle of the ladder. Inhale deeply, letting the emerald light expand outward from your chest, wrapping around your body. This light represents harmony, compassion, and your authentic self. Hold this feeling for a moment.
* The Visualization:
Move the energy down your torso and split it into your legs.
* In your right leg (Netzach), feel a dynamic, active ruby-red light. This is your drive, endurance, and the willpower to conquer obstacles.
* In your left leg (Hod), feel a calm, peaceful amber light. This is humility, gratitude, and the wisdom to surrender to the flow of the universe.
* The Action:
Feel both legs supporting you. Netzach gives you the power to move forward, while Hod gives you the grace to accept things as they are.
* The Visualization:
Bring the energy up from your legs to meet at the base of your spine and pelvic center (Yesod). Visualize a pooling, vibrant violet light.
* The Action:
This is your foundation and creative engine. Feel all the energies from the upper body condensing into this single point of power, preparing to turn spiritual intention into physical action.
* The Visualization:
Finally, push the energy all the way down into your feet, anchoring into the floor (Malchut). Visualize a rich, deep earthy-brown or black light wrapping around your feet, locking you to the planet.
* The Action:
You have successfully pulled the light from the infinite cosmos (Keter) all the way down into the physical Earth (Malchut). You are now a fully aligned ladder.
Closing the Practice
Take one final, deep breath. Feel your entire body humming with these balanced colors and frequencies. When you are ready, gently wiggle your fingers and toes, open your eyes, and bring this elevated consciousness into your physical day.
Now after having experienced the internal map of the Sefirot, we could see in the next article how Hasidic masters used simple, captivating parables to explain why these cosmic lights became trapped in the physical world in the first place..
