Steiner, strangely, is largely misunderstood, as much without as within the movement, whereby something of great value is missed out on.

Why is this so..?

The inexhaustible life wisdom that can be gained, is unmistakable. Many people then reach for it, yet something remains unattainable. The feeling of a great promise is there, but many people fall short of reaching it.

The modern condition humanity is, in itself, an obstacle, and at the same time it is precisely that which what Steiner has to offer allows to overcome.
Overcoming and bypassing the modern condition, is a growth process. If in the world of today there is mention of "augmenting" the human being, then certainly what Steiner has to offer centers exactly around an augmentation as well.

But it is an entirely different augmentation. Technological augmentation can seem to promise immediate alteration, with great benefits, whereas the process Steiner leads into, seems to start with a humiliation. If indeed, what anthroposophy has to offer, is not merely used, as a validation of the modern condition, which needs to be augmented—because, after all, that is what the process of initiation is concerned with—one eventually meets at some point, not how great we are, but what needs to be worked upon.

So either we feel great, or we feel depressed, so much so, that many won't even go there.

Yet—and there is the missing piece—we are immediately pulled over that threshold, and led into an entirely new way of taking things on. Now that piece is often missing, because anthroposophy is immediately made into a product of psychology, which in fact it is not. It offers an entirely new way of overcoming and augmenting what human nature consists of. But we want anthroposophy to save us or help us, eventually in taking on life as it is, while bringing anthroposophy down to the level of where we are. On one end, we believe to be perfect as we are—and even aspire to be "more" ourselves—on the other, we feel the painful necessity of augmenting ourselves, of overcoming ourselves.

Then, to augment ourselves, or to grow, there are many exercises, which happen on a meditative or soul level, yet it is as if withdrawing of live, within one's innermost self, away from the world. This, while in the 1980' one could start a four year eurythmie training, without much of these exercises, yet there one steps fully into life as it is, and eurythmie itself becomes like a meditation.

Why is this so..?
Eurythmie has come to be seen as an art—often well guarded by eurythmists—namely as something sacred the lay person can barely understand.
But above all, eurythmie is a way of moving, one which eurythmists often hardly understand themselves.

While before eurythmie and anthroposophical arts came about, anthroposophy was geared at acquiring knowledge and understanding, as well as at inner, meditative exercises. But with the arts, an externalization and a doing into the world started to take shape:
\- A Right way of moving
\- A Right way of speaking
\- A Right way of painting, etc
Namely, with these, human beings were confronted with the fact that up to then they had been functioning, in their relation to the world, in a way that was the result of evolution, of a descent into matter. What was revealed was the fact that the human had become too materialistic down to the very details of his functioning.
This needed to be overcome; therefore a reversal needed to happen, a literal turn-around.

If world-time is shaped into BC and AD, with the life of Christ as the middle-point, then what comes before is the "descent", and what comes after is the "ascent".

Ascent doesn't necessarily mean a spatial ascent. It means in the first place an accessing of the etheric, which is all around.
By accessing the etheric, what is "above" (the etheric) comes down, so to speak.
We access the etheric, which is then experienced around us; we are then within it. We are then in the first layer of heaven so to speak.

Eurythmie deals with moving in the etheric, as all anthroposophical arts do. It shows the movements which the etheric body and etheric larynx make when speaking. The entire alphabet are etheric formative forces. hence why it can be said that the world was spoken into being, by the Living Word.

We inherited the Word in our speaking, yet now it has become dead. For the spoken word to become alive again, speaking has to be renewed. It has to be brought back to its origin.
The method to do so can be found in anthroposophical Speech & Drama. So speech, the Word, can be resurrected from the dead. It can be saved from The Fall.

Moving and speaking can thus both be resurrected, namely two entirely vital aspects of our way of functioning.
Now we don't need necessarily to do meditative exercises within—even if useful—but we can take on everyday functions: how do we move, and how do we speak. This will influence the way in which we think, and alter our soul-life. A kind of resurrection takes place.

This starts to bring something into focus, which eventually is overlooked in anthroposophy, while other aspects have taken the upper hand.
We hereby don't need to pursue the manifestation of some material things, we can instantly manifest the etheric.
This then alters the way in which the material world can be taken on , in daily life, in the organization of enterprises, in the economy, or in governance systems. The "augmentation" is then a human being no longer fueled by earthly substances and energies, but by the possibly of endlessly accessing the heavenly realms within the earthly realms.

In some strange way, the Jewish people may be "chosen" because this is what they incessantly seek, yet constantly grasp just a little next to.
